The Director General of Media and Communications, Kano State Government, Salihu Yakasai has countered the Nigeria Center for Disease Control (NCDC) on its announcement of new Coronavirus cases in the state.
Recall that the NCDC on Thursday April 16, announced that 5 new cases of Coronavirus were recorded in Kano, bringing the total number of cases to 21.
Salihu Tanko Yakasai however countered the claim as he disclosed that the new case announced by the NCDC were from the previous day. He stated that no new case was recorded in the state as at Thursday.
He tweeted;
Its worthy to mention that the 5 cases reported for Kano here are part of the 21 total confirmed cases as of yday. The NCDC omitted it in their updates yday. As of today, no new case in Kano. May it stay that way.
On why states and the NCDC are making different announcements, Salihu wrote;
States are the ones making the official announcement 1st before NCDC makes the national update. Earlier today Lagos gave an update too, that’s how its done. The most important thing is to make sure the numbers tally through coordination
