Since the beginning of the Coronavirus lockdown, a lot of billionaires, corporate bodies, groups and others in and outside the country have been sending donations to the Federal Government of Nigeria, led by President Muhammadu Buhari, to support the masses who are obviously reciting the beautiful poems of hunger. Nollywood actor, Mr. Olu Michealls decided to move from one locality to another to feed some poor Nigerians in four different states including Lagos, Ogun, Oyo, and Ekiti States with the money. From his philanthropic’s heart, Olu contracted farmers to supply him some food items like Yam, Rice, Beans, Red Oil, Groundnut Oil and others worth five million naira and he began to move from a metropolitan area in Lagos to another to distribute them. The very industrious dude began by announcing on his Instagram page @olumicheals that whosoever is in need of food should contact him and without wasting much time, he has already fed people in over twenty popular communities in Lagos State such as Okoko, Iyana Era, Oko Afo, Orile Iganmu, Surulere, Mushin, Makoko, Agege, Abule Egba, Pleasure, Meran, Kola, Ejigbo, Igando, Ikotun, Egbeda, Ogba, Ojodu, Ogudu, Ereko (Lagos Island), Cow lane (Lagos island) Abesan Gate Ipaja, Ikorodu, Agric, Magodo, Mile 12, Ikeja, and Iyana Ipaja. Shortly after he finished catering for the Lagos residents, the huge but easy going Micheals extended his heart of gold to other states like Ogun, Ekiti and Oyo States. His team was divided into different groups last Tuesday 28th April 2020 to enable him reach out to those three states. When we asked him why he is so passionate about feeding the poor Nigerians and how he got funds for it, Olu Micheals, said “God won’t make us go hungry. It’s just that I thought of my past and whenever I see people hungry, I will rather borrow to feed or help them. I had nothing growing up untill when I was over 30 years old. I don’t have any foundation and I am not sure if I will still have one in future. I am not a politician neither did I do this because of my political ambition in future. We have been to over 20 communities in Lagos State and then we focused on Ogun state, Ekiti state and Oyo state. All were shared on Tuesday. In the morning, we go to different locations to share raw food and in the evening by 6pm, we go round to share food stuff for the Muslims who are fasting. Only God sponsored the programme not humans”, he said. For your information, Olu Micheals has produced series of blockbuster movies such as Tafa Onimoto, Like Mother Like Son, Homicide, Elemuga, Akaba, The Messenger, Trust and Aloyin Lohun which will be released soon.
