All the schoolchildren and teachers abducted during the May 15 attack on schools in Ahoro-Esiele community, Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State, have regained their freedom after spending nearly two months in captivity.
Newsonspot reports that the victims, made up of 39 pupils and seven teachers, were kidnapped when heavily armed men stormed Baptist Nursery and Primary School, L.A. Primary School, and Community Grammar School in the community.

Their release follows weeks of intensive rescue operations by security agencies and widespread public concern over their prolonged detention.

The development was confirmed on Friday by the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga.
In a post shared on his verified X account, Onanuga announced that all the abducted pupils and teachers had been rescued.
He wrote: “Finally, all the kidnapped pupils and teachers in Orire, Oyo have been rescued by our security agencies.”
The successful rescue marks the end of a traumatic ordeal for the victims, their families, and the Ahoro-Esiele community, which had anxiously awaited their safe return since the attack in May.
