Nigeria’s Super Eagles have booked their place in the semi-finals of the Africa Cup of Nations with a convincing 2-0 win over Algeria at the Marrakesh Stadium.

After a competitive but goalless first half, Nigeria found the breakthrough moments after the restart. Victor Osimhen rose highest to head home the opener, continuing his impressive form at the tournament. The striker then turned provider, setting up Akor Adams, who calmly rounded the goalkeeper and tapped in Nigeria’s second to put the game beyond Algeria’s reach.

Despite enjoying vocal support from a largely Algerian crowd, the North African side struggled to trouble the Super Eagles, failing to register a shot in the first half. Nigeria remained solid defensively and composed in attack, with Algeria unable to mount a serious comeback.
Osimhen’s goal marked his fourth of the tournament, while Nigeria’s overall tally of 14 goals underlines their attacking strength. Akor Adams came close to adding another late on, hitting the post, as the Super Eagles comfortably saw out the match.

Nigeria will now face hosts Morocco in the semi-finals on Wednesday in Rabat, while the other last-four tie will see Senegal take on Egypt. With confidence high and momentum building, the Super Eagles are firmly focused on pushing for a fourth AFCON title.
