The abducted President of Junior Chamber International (JCI) Ibadan, Mrs. Ibukunoluwa Otesile, who is also the daughter of Reverend Lekan Babatunde, has regained her freedom.
Newsonspot reports that Otesile, who serves as the deputy coordinator of the Child Protection Network (CPN), Oyo State chapter, was kidnapped last Thursday at the entrance of her father’s residence in General Gas area, Akobo, Ibadan.
Security sources in the state confirmed her release to Fresh FM on Wednesday night.
Dr. Rosemary Osogbo, state coordinator of the Child Protection Network, also confirmed the development, saying Otesile had been safely reunited with her family.
The civil society organisation overseeing child protection efforts in the state thanked God for Otesile’s safe return. The group also praised everyone who supported, prayed, or assisted in efforts to secure her release.
Through the organisation, the family of the victim appealed to the public for privacy as they recover from the traumatic experience.
“To God be the glory, Ibukunoluwa is fine. In the meantime, the family would like to crave your indulgence for some privacy to allow her and the family to recover. We would not be entertaining visitors for now,” the organisation wrote.
Otesile’s abduction sparked public concern, especially among advocacy groups and civil society organisations in Oyo State, due to her active role in child protection and community development. Several organisations issued solidarity statements calling for swift action.
Authorities have not yet provided details on any arrests or whether a ransom was paid, but security agencies maintain that investigations are ongoing.
