Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan has moved many to tears after surprising her longtime aide, Abdul Babamba, with the keys to a fully completed three-bedroom house – one he had unknowingly helped to build.
Newsonspot reports that the touching moment happened inside the newly finished home while Abdul was still working on the site, completely unaware that the building was meant for him. Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan arrived with members of her team and shared the deep significance behind the project.
She recounted how Abdul, who is also an uncle to her children, has remained steadfastly committed to her family for nearly twenty years. Despite challenges that followed the end of her previous marriage, Abdul continued to support her household while serving as a legislative aide and taking on painting and POP jobs to sustain himself.
To keep the surprise intact, Abdul was invited to the location under the pretense of correcting some POP work. Upon entering the room, the senator told him, “This is your house.” Overwhelmed, Abdul fell to his knees in tears, and those present helped him up repeatedly while assuring him that he truly deserved the gift.
Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan further revealed that payments for the construction were channelled through another team member so Abdul would not suspect he was building his own home. She said the gesture was a heartfelt way to honour his unwavering loyalty, consistency, and service over the years.
Expressing gratitude to God for the moment, she added that Abdul had earned every bit of the surprise through his sacrifices and dedication to her family.
