Dr Chikwe Ihekweazu, Director General of the National Center for Disease Control, (NCDC), has thanked Nigerians for assisting the agency with Coronavirus testing kits, as the health agency battles the Coronavirus pandemic in the country.
Ihekweazu, whose agency announced that Nigeria had 1273 confirmed cases and 40 deaths from the virus as at Sunday night, tweeted on Sunday asking for assistance with getting the RNA extraction kits necessary for Covid-19 testing.
”We’re desperately looking for more RNA extraction kits as we expand #COVID19 testing.” he said
On Monday, Iheakwazu who apparently got help from some people, took to his Twitter handle to thank Nigerians for their support.
”Product: Total viral RNA extraction kits (preferably spin column and with a lysis buffer). Manufacturers: Qiagen, ThermoFischer, SeeGene, Inqaba, LifeRiver etc.”
”very grateful to everyone who reached out to solve this challenge with us. Our support to each other, even when done quietly, will enable us pull through.
“One day, we will tell the story of this response in full. For now, we keep pushing”.
