Legendary British band Sade continues to prove the timeless appeal of its music as its greatest hits compilation, The Best Of, reaches a major milestone on the UK Official Albums Chart.
Newsonspot reports that although the Grammy-winning group has not released a new studio album in more than 15 years, its music remains highly popular with fans. Driven by strong streaming numbers on platforms such as Spotify and Apple Music, alongside continued album purchases, The Best Of has now spent a total of 52 weeks on the UK Official Albums Chart.
The compilation currently sits at No. 96, moving up one place on the latest chart. Originally released in November 1994, The Best Of debuted at No. 6, which remains its highest chart position.
After enjoying a successful run through 1995, the album disappeared from the charts before making brief returns in 2001 and 2010. Following another long absence, it returned to the UK Top 100 in late 2025 and has remained a regular presence ever since.
The achievement makes The Best Of only the second Sade album to spend at least one full year on the UK Official Albums Chart. The band’s debut album, Diamond Life, was the first to reach that milestone after its release in 1984, when it peaked at No. 2 and enjoyed multiple chart returns over the following years.
Since making its chart debut more than four decades ago, Sade has placed nine albums on the UK Official Albums Chart. Among them, Promise remains the band’s only No. 1 album, spending two weeks at the top following its release in 1985.
The continued success of The Best Of highlights the enduring popularity of Sade’s unique blend of soul, jazz, R&B and pop music, proving that the band’s timeless classics continue to resonate with audiences across generations.
