The Eko Electricity Distribution Company (EKEDC) has announced a planned 25-day power outage that will affect parts of Lagos State, beginning Monday, July 28, and running through Thursday, August 21, 2025.
Newsonspot reports that according to a customer notice issued on Friday, the daily outage will occur between 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m., and is necessitated by essential maintenance works on the Omotosho–Ikeja West 330kV transmission line being carried out by the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN).
EKEDC explained that the project is critical to improving the long-term stability and reliability of the power infrastructure. However, during this period, customers should expect intermittent outages and load shedding across the distribution areas under EKEDC’s network.
“Kindly be informed that there will be a planned outage by our partner, Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN), to enable works to be safely carried out,” the notice read.
The company urged customers to make necessary preparations and assured them of efforts to minimize inconvenience.
“We sincerely apologise for the inconvenience this may cause. Do kindly bear with us,” EKEDC added.
The development adds to growing concerns over electricity supply challenges in Lagos, Nigeria’s economic hub, where erratic power remains a key issue affecting both homes and businesses.
