Popular Nigerian disc jockey, Rachel Oluwabukola Martins, widely known as DJ Dimple Nipple, has recounted a deeply traumatic encounter with Philippine immigration authorities, accusing them of racism, harassment, and inhumane treatment during her recent visit to Manila.
Newsonspot reports that sharing her harrowing experience in a detailed Instagram statement titled “My Manila Immigration Nightmare”, Martins revealed that despite possessing valid visas, return tickets, and support from the Nigerian Embassy, she and her best friend were detained, humiliated, and eventually denied entry into the country without explanation.
According to her, their troubles began upon arrival in Manila when immigration officials became cold and unwelcoming. After being interrogated for hours, subjected to invasive searches, filmed without consent, and even followed by male officers to restrooms, both women were eventually taken to a holding facility she described as “detention-like,” where they spent the night on the floor without blankets or proper provisions.

“They treated us like criminals,” Martins said. “We were racially profiled, interrogated by over 30 officers, filmed during luggage checks, and sniffed by dogs – yet nothing illegal was found.”
Despite intervention efforts by her sponsors, CCMNL, and the Nigerian Embassy in Manila, the immigration authorities allegedly refused to allow them entry or provide a reason. Martins said their embassy representatives were ignored, and no explanation was given – only that it was a “personal decision.”
She condemned the degrading treatment, called for justice, and urged the Nigerian government to investigate and defend the rights of its citizens abroad.
“No one should be treated this way – especially not with valid documents and embassy support,” she lamented. “Why give us visas if we’re only going to be humiliated and sent back like criminals?”
The DJ’s statement has since gone viral, sparking conversations around racism, immigration injustice, and the mistreatment of Africans abroad.
As of the time of this report, Philippine immigration authorities are yet to publicly respond to the serious allegations.
