Veteran Nollywood actor, Tom Njemanze, has passed away following a prolonged battle with prostate cancer.
Newsonspot reports that the sad news was confirmed on Saturday, July 19, by movie producer Stanley Ajemba Chibueze, popularly known as Stanley Ontop.
According to Stanley, he received the heartbreaking update from Njemanze’s family on Friday, July 18.
“Good afternoon everyone, it’s another sad period as we just received news from Tom Njemanze’s family that he has succumbed to his ailment and passed on yesterday. May his soul RIP. It’s well. We tried to save him but God knows best. Nollywood loses another legend,” Stanley shared, alongside a photo of the actor during his final days.
Njemanze had been bedridden for some time, and although many believed he was on the path to recovery, the news of his death came as a shock to fans and colleagues alike.
Rising to fame in the 1990s, Tom Njemanze became a household name with standout roles in Nollywood classics such as Tokunboh, Pounds and Dollars, Atosa, Issakaba, Osuofia in London, Brain Box, and Igbotic Love.
Known for his expressive delivery, deep voice, and commanding screen presence, the late actor leaves behind a rich legacy in the Nigerian film industry. His contributions to storytelling and his unforgettable performances will continue to inspire generations.
