In a surprising development, Senate President Godswill Akpabio has relieved Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan of her role as Chairman of the Senate Committee on Diaspora and Non-Governmental Organisations (NGOs).
Newsonspot reports that with this decision, Senator Natasha, who represents Kogi Central, no longer holds leadership of any Senate committee.
This is the second time she has been stripped of a committee leadership position within a few months. In February 2025, she was removed as Chair of the Senate Committee on Local Content and reassigned to the Diaspora and NGOs Committee.
Her replacement, Senator Aniekan Bassey, who represents Akwa Ibom North East, will now oversee the Diaspora and NGOs Committee.
While the Senate has not given an official reason for the reshuffle, the move has sparked speculation about the political dynamics at play within the upper chamber.
Observers are watching closely for further developments, as the news is still unfolding.
