Edo State Governor, Monday Okpebholo, has approved the appointment of renowned international journalist Sulaiman Aledeh as the substantive Managing Director of Edo Broadcasting Service (EBS), the state-owned television and radio network.
The appointment takes immediate effect.
Sulaiman Aledeh brings over 20 years of experience in broadcast journalism across radio and television. He has worked with global media giants such as Al Jazeera, SABC, and GB News UK, and is currently a news anchor at Arise News, while also hosting programs on Classic FM.
A graduate of Philosophy from the University of Benin, Aledeh’s media career began during his undergraduate days at EBS. He later served at Ebonyi Radio during his NYSC, becoming the first corps member to read the station’s major news bulletin. He went on to make impactful contributions at the Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria (FRCN), Channels Television, and TVC, where he anchored flagship news programs and pioneered political shows.
Aledeh has also demonstrated expertise in corporate communication as the Assistant General Manager and Head of Media and Communications at Eko Disco. He is a Fellow of the Institute of Public Diplomacy and Management and an Associate of the Nigeria Institute of Public Relations.
In addition to his professional achievements, Aledeh holds a Master’s Degree in Humanitarian and Refugee Studies from the University of Lagos and is an alumnus of prestigious programs such as the U.S. State Department’s International Visitors’ Leadership Programme and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology’s Leadership Program.
Sulaiman Aledeh’s extensive experience, both locally and internationally, as well as his passion for mentoring the next generation of journalists, positions him as an excellent choice to lead EBS. His appointment signals a new era for the station, aimed at elevating its content and reach to global standards.
