Police operatives of Gowon Estate Division, Lagos have rescued a day-old female baby from a sewage tank.
This was disclosed in a statement by the Lagos Statement Police Command via its official Twitter account on Wednesday.
“A day-old female baby was found in a sewage tank at about 8:30am today. Officers of Gowon Estate Division, upon being alerted, promptly arrived at the scene. The baby was taken for immediate medical attention at a health center and is doing well” the statement read.

In a similar development, the command rescued a baby abandoned under a parked bus somewhere in the Mile 12/ Ketu area in June.
The baby was rescued after a resident who was on his way to work heard its cry.
After being notified, police officers from Ketu Division took the infant into their custody and later confirmed that she was healthy.
The command spokesman, Benjamin Hundeyin also informed the public that an investigation was underway to identify the perpetrator of the terrible crime.
