The PG of Obosi, Idemili North LGA, Anambra state, Hon. Ike Okolo, has been shot dead by unidentified persons about 8 p.m. on Monday, January 2, 2023.
Hon. Okolo was shot dead at a filling station in the community.
A gory video of him showed the community leader was shot while behind the wheels of his SUV with the body visibly riddled with bullets.
His killers are yet to be identified, although there were speculations that it might be the handiwork of cult groups which are rampant in the community.
The slain leader was said to be very vocal against unknown gunmen and the cult-related siege in his community.
Two other victims were also reportedly shot dead in other parts of the community.
Recently, Obosi has been a flashpoint of cult related clashes, with acclaim in drug peddling.
It was however not clear as to whether the killing of the President General was because he stood against the anomaly since he ascended to office or whether it was due to the sit-at-home ordered in the region.
The community in recent times gained notoriety for frequent cult clashes and long drawn gang wars.
