Hollywood star, Hillary Duff became a trending topic on Twitter on Saturday after a number of users made unfounded accusations of child trafficking against her, based on an Instagram story she posted containing photos of her son.
The thread which has since been deleted, accused Hilary of trying to sell her child, and also made false claims that her ex-husband, Mike Comrie had been trying to get custody of the child for years.
The allegations on Twitter were ignited after Hilary shared a video on her IG story which has since been deleted. In the clip, she showed a picture of her son—LucaCruz (8)—laying down nude with lotion on his body. However, she covered up his body parts in the video.
“Someone pointed out on Instagram that I did a nude of him, which I did, so we covered that up with sticker,” she said in her clip, which was captured by a Twitter user.
Addressing the child trafficking allegations via her Twitter handle, the 32-year-old American actress said they were not only untrue, but that they were invasive and offensive as well: “Everyone bored af right now I know..but this is actually disgusting…Whoever dreamed this one up and put this garbage into the universe should take a break from their damn phone. Maybe get a hobby.” she wrote
Hilary’s rep also issued a statement to E! News over the allegation against the actress on Twitter.
“Let me say this in the strongest terms, this is all a fabricated disgusting internet lie, created and perpetuated by trolls and idiots. Hilary’s own post this morning is all that needs to be said on the matter,” the statement read. “Everyone who knows Hilary is fully aware what an amazing mom she is and that requires no further comment. If only people with this much time on their hands used their energy to solve real problems in the world.”
Hillary is a proud mom to her son Luca Cruz, whom she shares with ex-husband Mike Comrie, and one-year-old daughter, Banks Violet, whom she welcomed with husband Matthew Koma.
