The family of veteran Yoruba actor, Taiwo Hassan, popularly known as Ogogo, has appealed for urgent medical assistance as the 66-year-old actor battles stage-four cancer.
Newsonspot reports that the actor’s daughters, Lima and Kira Taiwo, made separate emotional appeals on Instagram on Monday, calling on Nigerians, well-wishers and medical professionals with experience in cancer treatment to help their father.
Lima, in a video shared on her Instagram page, said her father’s condition had deteriorated and that some hospitals were no longer willing to continue his treatment.
According to her, the family only discovered the severity of the actor’s illness about three weeks ago, despite the fact that his physical appearance did not initially suggest how serious his condition was.
She stressed that the family was not seeking financial donations, but rather assistance in finding a hospital or medical professional willing and able to take on her father’s case.
In a separate video, Kira disclosed that her father’s cancer had reached stage four and appealed for help with treatment, including chemotherapy.
She also acknowledged the support of Senator Yayi, whom she said had been assisting the family and paying the actor’s medical bills.
Kira urged anyone with access to qualified cancer specialists, hospitals or other legitimate treatment options to contact the family, stressing that their immediate concern was to find medical intervention that could give their father another chance.
The emotional appeals came as the actor’s daughters described the distress of watching their father battle the illness.
As of the time of filing this report, Ogogo’s management and family had not issued an official statement providing details about the specific type of cancer, hospital involved or the actor’s current treatment plan.
Taiwo Hassan is one of the most recognised figures in the Yoruba film industry, with a career spanning more than four decades. He has reportedly featured in more than 300 movies and remains a prominent figure in Nigeria’s entertainment industry.
