A Nigerian graduate, Oluwasegun Akinwola, has inspired many on social media after sharing his remarkable academic journey at the University of Ibadan (UI), where he and his lover graduated with First Class honours and emerged as the best graduating students in their department.
Newsonspot reports that the young man, identified as @_numuno on X, celebrated the achievement by posting photos of himself and his partner, Jacintha Nosazeogie, while highlighting their accomplishments during their time as students in the Department of Physiotherapy.
According to Oluwasegun, he served as the President of the Association of Physiotherapy Students, while Jacintha held the position of Editor-in-Chief of PhysioPress.
Sharing their academic success, he wrote that they both graduated with First Class honours, with him emerging as the Best Graduating Male Student and Jacintha as the Best Graduating Female Student in the Department of Physiotherapy.
The couple also gained popularity on campus, winning the Association of Physiotherapy Students’ Couple of the Year award four times. They further received the UCH Students’ Association Couple of the Year award and were recognised as the Alexander Brown Hall Power Couple of the Year.
Expressing his joy, Oluwasegun described Jacintha as his best friend and appreciated the opportunity to achieve success alongside her.
Beyond academics, Oluwasegun also recorded several outstanding achievements during his undergraduate years. He won the ACAPN International Scientific Conference Inter-University Quiz Competition, representing UI alone against schools that presented two contestants each.
He also excelled in sports, winning the ABH League as a coach in his debut season and receiving the Coach of the Season award after leading his team on an unbeaten run following an opening 5-1 defeat. His team’s performance earned them VVIP tickets to watch Shooting Stars Sports Club as the Team of the Season.
In addition, he was honoured as an Egbe Omo Oduduwa Scholar, an award given to top-performing students from Yoruba-speaking states at the University of Ibadan.
The inspiring story has continued to attract praise online, with many Nigerians congratulating the couple for their dedication, academic excellence, and inspiring relationship journey.
