Police, DSS Cordon Off APC Abuja National Secretariat…

Dozens of armed policemen in four patrol vans have taken over the entry and exit points on Blantyre Street where the All Progressives Congress, APC, National Secretariat is located.

The police officers who are heavily armed stormed the area on Wednesday in Toyota Hilux vans and surrounded the premises.

Newsonspot blog learnt that the move was to forestall a planned protest at APC secretariat by some party members who are against the Mai-Mala led Caretaker/Extraordinary Convention Planning Committee.

But the Secretary of the Caretaker Committee, Sen John Akpanudoedehe who spoke to newsmen on the development, said the move was sequel to a security report.

He insisted that there was no cause for alarm, stressing that there was a need to protect the secretariat at the moment.

He said, “It’s a routine thing. The
police liaise with FCT Minister, the IG and other people if they have any information. Not only here, if you are coming to Abuja, going to the airport, we have the duty to protect the people who work here.

“We read security reports and I’m sure you are fully aware we have every security agency in APC Secretariat. We are only acting on security reports, there is no cause for alarm,” he said.
