Mrs. Suzanne Elumelu, the mother of the famed Elumelu brothers (Tony and Ndudi), is leading a pack of twenty Nigerians from diverse walks of life who have been nominated for the Silent Heroes Award, which will be held in Abuja on Saturday, August 21, 2021.

The matriarch of the Elumelu family from Delta State is being honored as a SILENT HERO IN MOTHERHOOD, according to the event’s organizers, for painstakingly raising her children to prominence after losing her spouse at a young age.

Mr. Tony Elumelu, a well-known banker and international entrepreneur, Hon. Ndudi Elumelu, an adept politician and Minority Leader of the House of Representatives, and others are among her offspring.

The Nigerian Silent Heroes Award, which was founded by Mr. Odita Sunday-Udemagwuna, a senior journalist with the Guardian Newspaper, is now in its third year.

The inaugural edition of the award, which was led by Dr. Brasca Ifeadi, a former Deputy Comptroller General (DCG) of the Immigration Service, was hosted in December 2019 at the Best Western Elomaz Hotel in Asaba.

The second edition, held at the Nicon Noga Hotel in Abuja in 2020, was chaired by Prof. Epiphany Azinge, former Director-General of the Nigerian Institute of Advanced Legal Studies, who will again chair this year’s event.
