Bill and Melinda met in 1987. Melinda was 24 and had just started working for Microsoft and Bill was the CEO. They married in 1994, and a year later, Bill became the richest man in the world. They have three children.
Four years later, they started the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, a philanthropic organization dedicated to fighting “poverty, disease and inequity around the world.” The foundation, which is considered one of the world’s largest private charities, has invested more than $1.75 billion to fight COVID-19.
Last March, Bill stepped down from his role on Microsoft’s board of directors to focus on his work with the foundation, Newsonspot.com.ng gathered.
