A family of five from Ajowa Akoko in Akoko North-West Local Government Area of Ondo State were reportedly kidnapped by some unknown gunmen at Ayere Area in Kogi State on Sunday.
The abductees, Mr Ibrahim Olusa, his wife and three children, were said to be travelling to Abuja from Ajowa Akoko, where they went for Easter celebration before they were abducted.
It was gathered that the kidnappers have contacted the family and demanded N10 million before they could be released.
The incident was said to have brought a lot of apprehension to the residents of the town.
A Community leader in Ajowa Akoko and immediate past Chairman of Ajowa Akoko Community Council, Mr Ajayi Bakare, who confirmed the incident attributed the kidnapping and robberies on that road to the deplorable section of the road that belongs to Kogi State.
Bakare therefore appealed to government to rehabilitate the road to enhance free flow of vehicles.
The Divisional Police Officer DPO, Okeagbe Akoko, Olu Akinwande could not be reached for comment.
Spokesperson of the state police command, Tee Leo lkoro said the matter has not been reported to the state police headquarters.
Ikoro said he would have to put a call across to the DPO in the council area of the state.
Newsonspot.com.ng learnt that the state commander of the state Amotekun Chief Adetunji Adeleye has been informed of the abduction of the family.
It was learnt that police detectives and the personnel of Amotekun have been deployed to the scene of the crime.
