Suspected Fulani herdsmen attacked the convoy of Benue State Governor Samuel Ortom in Tyo Mu near Makurdi March 20.
The incident occurred along the Makurdi/Gboko road while the governor was traveling to Makurdi.
Newsonspot.com.ng gathered that the suspected herdsmen opened fire on the governor’s convoy along Makurdi/Gboko road, few miles from Makurdi.
It was learned that the governor was on his way to Makurdi after attending an event, when the suspected herdsmen attacked his convoy.
However, the gunmen were repelled by the security men attached to the governor.
At the time of this report, the governor who is still in shock was being expected to address the media on the development.
There have been no reports of casualties.
The motive for the attack is unclear.
